Gender equality and consent workshops: La Sobremesa™©
Price: $175 per person*
At “La Sobremesa”™ we bring people together to have fun playing board-games while learning and reflecting on gender equality, gender stereotypes and consent.
Innovative evidence-based award-winning board-games played for more than 400 people from more than 50 different countries of origin!
Outcomes: Participants will (1) gain awareness of the extent and impact of gender inequality and intersecting forms of discrimination; (2) improve confidence to promote gender equality; (3) increase their knowledge and understanding of affirmative consent; and (4) increase knowledge and understanding of harmful gender stereotypes.
About:
By using a methodology based on board-games, the workshop allows participants to feel empowered to explore challenging or somewhat unknown topics, in a fun, inclusive and community-feel way.
During the workshop we play three evidence-based board-games (uneven, who is who, what it is) created by and for the community, and they are one of a kind.
The board-games.
Uneven: It showcases gender inequality by making participants experience, think, and reflect on some of the economic, social, and cultural consequences of gender inequality in Australia, in particular for women and the LGBTIQA+ community.
Who is who? This game makes participants reflect on the impact of gender stereotypes that mass media and society have constructed.
What it is: This game provides skills and general knowledge on the topic of consent throughout the use of words and provides opportunities for participants to “practice” asking for consent, giving consent, and saying no.
Duration: 3 hours
Min number of participants: 8
Max number of participants: 24
Other options: If you prefer to have shorter sessions or a workshop focused only on one or two games, please contact us to discuss options and prices.
*includes facilitation, materials and transportation within Metropolitan Melbourne. Latin American theme lunch or light refreshments can be organised for an extra cost.
